The minutes of June 21, 2018 were disseminated prior to the meeting.  Editorial change was made to reflect the correct spelling of Annie Baldauf.  Minutes were approved as printed with the editorial change.

Michael Dunn gave the treasurer’s report.  He is now in possession of the treasurer’s records and will be working with Juli Dorff and Beverly Gerber to get his name on the appropriate accounts.

The membership chair was not able to attend but we have added new members at this conference.  We are hoping to expand the number of programs that DARTS will have at the CEC Convention in the future.  The CEC convention is in Indianapolis at the end of January, 2019.

Jane Burnette gave an update on the new DARTS journal which will be online.  Four papers have been accepted. Topics include:  the distance we have come in the development of the arts, professional development resources for music educators, creative development through the use of arts, and inclusive theatre productions.   Abstracts are now available on the four articles.

Juli Dorff attended the CEC Leadership Institute in July.  There was two days of training.  CEC is supportive of our efforts.  We were commended for the quality of our website.

Juli introduced Mario Rossero and thanked him for his support and all his work.

Beverly Gerber and Beverley Johns are co-chairing the ByLaws Update committee.  One of the proposals is to have the Past Presidents participate in the board meetings and conference calls but they would not be voting members.  Proposed bylaws can be sent to the membership 60 days prior to the business meeting at the CEC Convention.  If anyone has other changes they would like to have considered, they should let Beverly and Beverley know.

Betty Siegel from VSA was introduced.  She was awarded a plaque from DARTS for her all of her assistance and support in the formation of DARTS.

Under other business, Beverly Gerber talked about the revision of the Reaching through Teaching book published by NAEA.  This book has been the best seller for NAEA.  Early childhood, teacher training, students in trauma, and VSA should be additional items for this new edition.

On October 3-5, 2019, at Moore, there will be  an international conference on Disability Studies, Arts, and Education. Lauren Stichter is coordinating the conference and she can be reached at lstichter@moore.edu.

The Arts Education Institute will be held at Berkeley—April 12-14, 2019. Call for Presentations will be out by October 1.

Jenna Gabriel will be putting on two VSA mini conferences—one will be December 7-8, 2018, in Ohio and one will be March 22 or March 31, 2019, in New Orleans.   October 26-28,2019, will be the dates for the next large conference in Irvine, California.

There is a new book entitled The Power of Play which focuses on Early Childhood.   There will be a chapter on the role of parents and multigenerational conversations.

Jean Crockett and Sharon Malley will be doing a session on Wednesday at 2:45 p.m.  on Trends and Influences Impacting Art Education.

Adrienne Hunter, Donalyn Heise, and Bev Johns will be doing a session later today on the Role of Art in Reaching Students Experiencing Trauma.

Graduate credit is being provided at this conference.

With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 2:45 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted,

Beverley H. Johns
